Al-Sayyab obtained PhD in thermal engineering from Universitat Jaume I, Castello, Spain. He obtained his M.Sc in Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning from Baghdad technical college, Middle Technical University, Baghdad, Iraq. He worked as an Assistant Professor in a southern technical university, Basra.
