Basra Engineering Technical College Within The Southern Technical University Launches Environment Week Activities

Environment Week activities were launched at the Engineering Technical College in Basra within the Southern Technical University. The volunteer work team at the college established an educational campaign aimed at preserving the environment and combating emissions and climate change through education on protecting biological diversity and preserving living organisms and diverse and balanced ecosystems.In addition to preserving natural resources to provide water, air, and arable soil, in addition to reducing pollution by reducing the release of harmful pollutants into the environment and maintaining its cleanliness.From her part, the Dean of the College, Dr. Laila Balasim Hashem, stated that this campaign aims to pay attention to sustainable development to achieve a balance between the needs of the current generation and the needs of future generations by using resources in a sustainable manner, noting the importance of educating students and the community for the purpose of preserving the environment and encouraging participation in environmental efforts as well.


The College Of Health And Medical Technologies At The Southern Technical University Organizes A Course On Measuring Vitamin D Using ELFA Technology (enzyme Linked Fluorescent Assay)

The College of Health and Medical Technologies within the Southern Technical University organized a training course on measuring vitamin D using the  ELFA  technology (enzyme linked fluorescent assay), which was held by the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies in cooperation with the Scientific Division and the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit in the college for five days in the bio technology laboratory. The course included an explanation of the importance of vitamin D in the human body, a complete definition of ELFA technology, and how laboratory devices work with this technology, and then getting acquainted with the mini VIDAS device that works with ELFA technology in tests for detecting early cancers, hormones, viruses, and immune diseases. It was discussed through Course on the difference between ELFA technology and its difference from ELISA technologyThe course also covered practical training for participants in measuring vitamin D for each participant by working with the mini VIDAS device to enable the participant to work on the device and keep up with the requirements of the labor market in government and private hospital laboratories.
